New year resolutions(poem)
I will drain
Long draughts of quiet
As purgation:
Remember
Twice daily
Who I am;
Will lie o' nights
In the bony arms
Of Reality and be comforted
Long draughts of quiet
As purgation:
Remember
Twice daily
Who I am;
Will lie o' nights
In the bony arms
Of Reality and be comforted

Explanation:
In these lines, the poetess expresses her resolution to welcome the new year with better understanding of life. She seems to be sick of modem life. She thinks that the noise, fever and fret of life keep us in constant mental tension. We do not have time to take stock of our good and bad deeds. She wants to have a few moments to think about the purpose and mission of her life. In a state of mental peace, she will think of her sins and evil deeds. She will be in a position to purify her soul of evil interests if she has ample time for rest and leisure. She wants to welcome the new year with a chaste mind.
